Transformers Michael Bay

Despite one’s personal opinions on the Transformers franchise and the fluctuating quality of the films, they see great box-office returns and sell a metric ton of toys. So, it’s not hard to believe that sequels are already being planned ahead of The Last Kinght‘s release. According to Michael Bay, in an interview with MTV’s Josh Horowitz, there are 14(!) stories in the Transformers Universe ready to go.

You can watch the interview below in which Bay goes on to reveal other morsels of Transformers news. Here are some interesting tidbits:

  • First, Bay is asked about is oft talked about departure from the series. Bay says “I’m having fun,” when prodded on the subject.
  • Transformers: The Last Knight will be connected to planned spin-offs and “things to come” loosely via Easter Eggs.
  • The Bumblebee solo film will “go a little younger,” and it will focus on his character.
  • On the possibility of a cameo by Shia LaBeouf Bay says “maybe, we’ll see.”

Transformers Forever!

If you’re a fan of the franchise, hearing that there are 14 stories ready to go is great news. Michael Bay just made your day. If you’re not, too bad, it looks like the bot on bot action isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Neither will Bay as he says at least one of the stories has piqued his interest. I imagine at this point he really is having fun making these films, and despite what many say about their quality, the Transformers series really does excel when Bay is at the helm.

I’d like to see them explore the other universes in the series like Beast Wars. What about you geeks? What stories do you want to see come out of the 14 spin-offs or sequels? Let’s talk all things Transformers in the comments below!
