Red Dead Redemption adds Zombies…just in time for Halloween

Red Dead RedemptionRockstar Games  just released an add-on for Red Dead Redemption that allows you to battle the undead…..but back about 100 years ago.  Now days we know how to take out the zombie horde, especially if you listened to the DHTG podcast from October 12th.  We discussed what to do and how to prevent putting yourself in that vulnerable position.  But what if you were a settler with nothing but a 6 shot revolver?  Changes the game a little bit.

You will again step into the shoes of John Marston.  It becomes your job to rid the world, or at least your area, of the zombies.  You are able to see immediately that the game has changed.  Very few folks are alive, most are dead or undead.  Even the scenery reflects a different feeling, one of dread.

Your ultimate goal is to wipe out the zombies and carve out a peaceful existence for the townspeople.  When you enter a town that is under attack most of the townspeople will help you fight.  However, bullets become a valuable asset and you must decide whether you will share the bullets or keep them for yourself.  You can even unlock a new weapon called the blunderbuss.  This weapon uses zombie parts as the ammo.  How sweet is that?!

This add on is quite fun but it becomes the same images over and over again.  For one thing, zombies don’t really present much of a challenge as they are usually the slow walking kind.  They also don’t ride horses and really only cause a problem when you have to fight a bunch of them.  The easiest way to kill the zombie still remains a head shot.  With the lack of bullets this becomes a necessity to put them down this way.  In addition, these zombies will also die by fire, so light em up!!  If you want to make it easy, climb up on top of a building and pick the zombies off, because they cannot climb any ladders.

You can get missions in this add on but you must first liberate the town.  As you free towns you are then able to get these mission and save missing people or unlock the four horses of the apocalypse (AWESOME)!  Each of the horses have there own powers to help you deal with the undead.

In addition to the great story line, there is also a multiplayer mode called Undead Overrun.  You can team up with 3 other buddies and you must survive increasingly difficult waves of the undead.  An in-game clock counts down forcing you to open coffins to add time.  This makes you move around so that you cannot just sit and wait.

This add on is arriving just in time for Halloween so why not download the action tonight.  You can get it for 800 Microsoft points.
