Microsoft vs Google

Microsoft‘s Bing and Google are two of the world’s top Internet search engines. The two seemed to be working together to achieve search result harmony, however, Google has recently issued statements that Microsoft’s Bing search engine is nothing but a Google knock-off. To prove this Google did a simple test. Read more to find out what they found!
Google went about proving this to users by conducting simple non-sensical word searches. Words like “hiybbprqag”, “delhipublicschool40″, “chdjob” and “juegosdeben1ogrande” were used to which Google provided a single unrelated link back. Then they tested Microsoft’s Bing search engine to see if it would find these words. Within weeks Bing found the same words and the same links to the made up words.
Microsoft’s senior Vice President Yusuf Mehdi, stated that Google sweetened their searches when using Bing to make it look like the search engine was copying the results. According to Mehdi,
“We do not copy results from any of our competitors. Period. We have some of the best minds in the world at work on search quality and relevance, and for a competitor to accuse any one of these people of such activity is just insulting.”
Microsoft claims that the information they acquire is from users who opt in to allowing them to see what searches have been done and ways to create a better user experience. Google is still holding their stance that Microsoft is copying results and asks that they stop immediately. Microsoft continues to denies the allegations.
What does this mean for the consumer? It appears that these two have a lot of ground to make up before they can play together again. Look for more to come of this in the future and use the search engine that you like the best!
