What’s Prototype 2 Gonna Be Like? Sit Down I’ve Got A Tale For You

Prototype was a fun yet underrated game in my opinion. Most of the negative reaction it received seemed to be squarely aimed at the graphics bringing it’s total score down very low. The truth is Prototype had a pretty good story and some extremely fun gameplay. Prototype would have been much better reviewed had it come out further apart from Infamous, but the games were too similar and it drew too many comparisons between the games and the more flawed game got the short end of the stick.
Now with Prototype 2 on the way the developers are planning on fixing the mistakes of the original and aiming for a 2012 release.
In Prototype 2 sadly you will end up not playing the same character of Alex Mercer. Instead Radical Entertainment has opted to use another character and have Alex Mercer merely grant powers to the new character. You will be playing Sgt. James Heller a man who lost everything in the original infection from the heinous virus attack on the city. Alex Mercer decides that Heller should gain his powers and be the new anti-hero taking over for Mercer.
While trying to solve a lot of the problems from the game Radical decided the story in the first game was a bit complicated and decided to make it appeal to a wider audience. That is the bad news, it’s never good to see a story drummed down for mass appeal. The good news is that they plan to keep the same open world action oriented game play from the first game. They also plan to touch up the minor glitches and graphical flaws for Prototype 2 as well. Given that the only serious complaint from the first game was it’s graphics that’s fantastic news.
My biggest problem with this sequel though is that they plan to make Alex Mercer the bad guy. Making a larger than life villain that Heller is out to destroy not only to save the city, but get revenge. In the beginning Heller will be to weak to defeat Mercer, but as the game progresses you will gain powers and stand a chance.
Ultimately the goal is to make the game a little prettier, a little less complicated to understand and add more destruction and mayhem.
So the question is; can Radical do what Ubisoft did with Assassins Creed and improve nearly every aspect of the first game? Or will their changes kill what was originally a very promising franchise? Only time will tell.

I can’t wait for this. Loved the first one, only wish my computer was a little better so I could play it without lag.
What kind of system are you running ? I find more often than not most people trash talk their computer when really it just needs one little improvement. I’m even guilty of this at time and it’s certainly hard once you update one thing to not want to update more. However, I had found my self unable to keep up with some of the newer games with my aging processor , Low ram (by todays standards) and very weak video card. I couldn’t really improve me processor with out also chaning my mother board which would of been an expensive undertaking. RAM is on the list for eventually, but wouldn’t bring a significant difference to be worth it. So Video card it was and boy was I happy with my choice.
