Samuel L. Jackson in Arena, Full of Fail?

I love Samuel Jackson as an actor, for me, there is no one better at becoming a character and breathing life into it.  From Pulp Fiction to Star Wars, we have seen good choices and bad choices but in every single movie the one shining spot is usually Mr. Jackson.  So now I see the trailer for his new movie Arena and I am amazed as to why he would do this project.  The trailers do not inspire me to want to race out and wait in line to see the movie; I don’t even know if I’ll watch it on Blu-Ray.

The film also stars Kellen Lutz (of Twilight fame) as a young man who is kidnapped and forced to fight in a modern gladiator arena.  Jackson stars as the man behind the scenes that makes the whole show go.  The gladiators fight online for viewers who will ultimately decide their fate-to live or die.  Check out the trailer after the break!

It seems that this is a hybrid of movies already made.  I see parts of the Running Man, Mad Max, Matrix and Fear,Com all mixed into the story line.  Is this really what Mr. Jackson is putting his name on?  Is it possible that this movie will become an underground sensation like Snakes on a Plane?  What do you think?

The action sequences alone in Arena makes the
movie worth seeing; I thought it was an overall decent movie that had lots of
action and awesome eye candy. Personally I thought it was awesome in the
comfort of my own home. I’ll wait to buy the blu-ray until I can afford it, but
for now I’ll use Blockbuster to see it again at a reasonable cost. I like to
watch movies and save money and you can too by using Blockbuster. Right now, DISH
Network customers can get access to the new Blockbuster Movie Pass. There are
over 100,000 movie titles to choose from either streaming or in the mail. As a
DISH Network customer and employee I can tell you that you can also get different
titles right away with instant in-store exchanges if you don’t want to wait for
the mail (you can’t do that with Netflix).
