Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio be prepared! You major metro areas will be the first to swim in the AT&T LTE pool! Coming this Sunday, September 18th, AT&T is throwing the switch on its long awaited 4G LTE network starting with those measly 5 areas. The Death Star is hoping to add another 10 markets by year’s end bringing the area count to 15(!). As of yet, no mention of pricing on 4G LTE plans or whether the company will roll out more 4G equipped handsets.
Compared to the expected 175 markets Verizon wants to cover by the end of the year, AT&T is way behind the times. With all the hub bub about the fastest networks, one would think AT&T would have spent more time on this upgrade instead of trying to swallow up another company. Verizon is expanding faster than your uncle’s waistline at Thanksgiving and Sprint has upgraded their network at a decent clip. So why did it take the number 2 carrier so long?
