Sometimes you just want to feel appreciated and that’s what Sony has done with this new video for their “Long Live Play” campaign. In it we see Nathan Drake, Solid Snake, Kratos, Cole McGrath and many more PlayStation heroes talking about how “He” made them the heroes they are. The extol his many virtues, his grace under fire, his ability to do anything. “He” is spoken of like a legend of olden times, a God among mere mortals. Then they speak his name – Micheal. Holding up a picture, we see Micheal is merely a PS3 playing deity brandishing the iconic Dualshock pad in his hands. As the scene plays, more pictures just like this are noticed on the walls. More Gods, more heroes.

Watching the video admittedly gave me a sense of pride for being a gamer. Sony is clearly trying to rebuild the trust they lost in recent months and what better way to do that then by worshiping those very people. Making us the heroes, the Gods, the celebrated.
