Final Fantasy XIII-2 suffers in Japan

The long awaited Square Enix game, Final Fantasy XIII-2, has suffered in its opening week. Sales for the Xbox 360 version only reached around 10,000 copies in the first seven days of retail. This has come as a big surprise because Japan has always been the Final Fantasy stronghold. These poor figures come as an even bigger surprise as the previous Final Fantasy title sold over one million units on its first day, making it the fastest selling game in the franchise’s history.
The new game has been a lot more popular on the PS3 though, topping the charts, while on the Xbox chart it reached a pretty poor 48th. Across all platforms the game has sold 524,000 copies in the first week. Let’s just hope things pick up for Lightning and the gang when the game hits North America on the 31st January.
