Just a friendly update to remind any of you geeks that you can now reach out to AT&T to get your phone unlocked! If you meet any of the requirements listed below. Let us know if there ends up being any kinks in the system, it is AT&T after all!
Don’t fill up on Easter ham or candy this weekend if you happen to run an iPhone on the AT&T network. The company is planning on allowing you to get that device unlocked then. Not sure about this unlocking business? Don’t fret, it’s nothing sinister. By unlocking your phone, AT&T is just allowing you to use it on any GSM network, not just theirs.
Now before you get too excited, which wouldn’t be a good idea if you have filled up on Easter grub, the offer is for “qualifying customers” only. What’s this qualifying jive you ask? You have to be a good customer, all current on your bill and can’t be under an active commitment. You must have fulfilled your contract, upgraded or paid an early termination fee to be eligible. Basically have that bill paid and be out of contract.
The only requirements are that a customer’s account must be in good standing, their device cannot be associated with a current and active term commitment on an AT&T customer account, and they need to have fulfilled their contract term, upgraded under one of our upgrade policies or paid an early termination fee. – so says AT&T
Any geeks out there chilling on an iPhone and want to break it out? Hit those comments after the break!
