Mass Effect 3‘s new DLC, titled “Rebellion”, is a promising upcoming multiplayer expansion. It’s got everything we expect from a DLC, new characters, new maps, and new weapons. But what’s really sensational about this particular release is the means by which it was discovered.
Now your probably wondering why this is such a unique announcement? Well the answer is relatively simple – It wasn’t supposed to be announced. Sony Hong Kong had posted the DLC’s release info, along with a statement stating that the expansion was already available in Asia, (a clearly false statement) right before the website was completely scrubbed. This does not bode well for any arguments saying this was a controlled release.

Luckily for us, website Kotaku was able to snag this tasty tid bit from the edge of oblivion and bring it to light for all of us to share:
“The Rebellion Multiplayer Expansion opens two new fronts against the Reapers: Firebase Jade’s jungle reservoir and Firebase Goddess on Thessia. In-game reinforcement packs now include three new weapons as well as equipment, consumables, and six new classes: Quarian Engineer and Infiltrator, Vorcha Soldier and Sentinel, Phoenix Adept and Vanguard. The battle continues – hold the line!”
So Geeks, as we all know the old idiom goes, one companies botched press release is another geeks treasure. So lets give a cheer to the poor sod who gave us this info, willingly or not, and ready our gaming system of choice for the upcoming jungles of Firebase Jade and the sharpened claws of the Vorcha soldier.
Although both EA and Bioware have declined to announce the “Rebellion” pack, I’m inclined to think that their hand has been forced and well see some recognition soon.
