Tragedy strikes Colorado, lawsuits begin.

By now everyone has started to shake off the shock from the tragic shooting in Colorado at the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises. The populace is still dealing with the “why?s” but one opportunistic slime has decided to make a quick buck off the still warm bodies. Torrance Brown, Jr was one of the eager fans ready to watch the finale to the Dark Knight trilogy when gunfire erupted in the theater. Brown watched one of his friends take a bullet to the chest and die. So to honor the memory of his best bud, he decided the absolute best way possible was to level a tri-level litigation style attack.

Brown has squared his sights on three defendants: the Century 16 movie theater, the “alleged” shooter’s doctors and….Warner Brothers! Yeah, this lowlife has decided the studio behind the movie he was watching should be held responsible for the death of his friend. Greedy money grubber Brown’s scumbag lawyer went on record to TMZ saying “Somebody has to be responsible for the rampant violence that is shown today.”. So let me get this straight, Brown paid money to see the movie at midnight with his deceased friend but now wants to blame to very product he paid for? Are you kidding me? You were there, at the very “violent” movie yourself, jackass! What’s next, suing Holmes’ parents for conceiving him? Shame is clearly not something this guy has ever, nor will ever, feel.

He’s also suing the theater for not properly securing the emergency door. It should have been alarmed or guarded? Really? So when movie theaters triple the price of tickets, this guy will be to blame. Then he’ll sue because the theater is gouging the prices. You know because he’s such an upstanding, moral citizen and all. How in the world can anybody, let alone the theater, prepare and properly secure against a lunatic? Especially one coming out of left field like that? Plus, the doctors? Oh boy, that one really gets me. The judgemental slime claims that Holmes “appears to be on several medications” and the mysterious doctors didn’t properly monitor him. This guy has clearly lost his damn mind! I haven’t heard one peep about the Holmes being on any form of medication, so to assume he is…well you geeks know that old expression. So bringing in “doctors” that might not exist is yet another futile attempt to bankroll his future.

Instantly and I mean INSTANTLY, the judge should throw the case out based upon the very frivolous nature of the suit. I get that it was a tragedy, we all do. Dropping a lawsuit 5 days after the event? That means Greedy McIdiot pretty much started seeing $$$$ immediately. This is the flimsiest excuse to get rich quick I’ve ever seen. The community of Aurora should root this scuzzy, grease bag, waste of human life and let him know they won’t stand for profiting off of the loss of so many lives. Better yet, Batman himself should swoop down and drag this bottom feeding parasite and his lawyer off to Arkham Asylum! There’s a special kind of hell awaiting you and your lawyer, the ironic thing is you’ll be in there with the killer. Why? Because you kill the memory of your friend and every other victim by pulling this irreprehensible stunt!

This is literally the stupidest thing I have ever read, and I don’t mean the fact he has filed a lawsuit I mean this article.  Watch your friend die and you are a scumbag?  Ya that seems fair.  Clearly you are not real geeks as real geeks have brains, you are just not cool that is a loser not a geek.

But you have to admit that Brown IS an opportunist: it’s kind of disgusting he’s trying to make money off this tragedy.

I didn’t decide upon the term “scumbag” lightly. And I used it in reference to the lawyer, just so you know. It took him less than five days to start a lawsuit against hypothetical people, the theater that had no way of knowing they were going to get attacked and the movie studio that he paid money to. Where’s the families of the victims and their lawsuits? They were too busy doing things like dealing with grief and making funeral arrangements to concern themselves with this crap. If he lost such a good friend, why was he more concerned about future financial planning than the grief? Plus, since when does a trauma victim get a publicist? Again less than five days after a tragedy?

I can see the point being made.  I say this as someone with clinical training.  Trauma is something that can show itself in a number of ways not just sorrow, but anger, blaming others etc.  The truth is that I while I don’t think that WB should be held responsible that the theater is responsible as is the shooters doctor if he showed any homicidal or suicidal ideations.
The theater didn’t have to doors secure, as in people could come in through them, yes that is their responsibility.  Further the fact that they had a rule against law abiding citizens with CC carrying guns in yet he this guy was able to carry in three weapons?! This kid saw a friend shot before his eyes and the simple fact is that those two the dr and the theater are responsible. When a person is on property, no matter if it is an individual or a business the is liability on the part of that person.
And you ask about a publicist, generally that is not hired by the person, or the family, but in a high profile case is hire by the lawyer.  As for the “scumbag” statement…the guy is a lawyer and he has been hired to do a job.
