It comes as no surprise that The Avengers was phenomenal success for Marvel and they seem to show no signs of holding back on new ventures as they ride the wave of success. According to Deadline Marvel’s TV department is “in conversation” with ABC and ABC studios. The initial idea is to have a drama set in the world of The Avengers. This show however is not to be confused with or be like the animated Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, instead will probably be more serious, with one of the possible ideas being a “high-concept cop show”. However it is said that the show will not be featuring the stars of Joss Whedon’s blockbuster, but rather focus on the themes and “feels”.
This is not the first time that Marvel has explored TV possibilities for their characters, a Hulk series, developed by ABC, is currently in the works. Whether this is an attempt to out the soon-to-be-released show Arrow, about DC’s own archer Green Arrow, or just new territory for Marvel to explore it is certainly exciting news and we’ll keep you up to date with the latest developments.
