Everyone loves to speculate about when “X” product will hit the market. From the newest cellphone to the hottest gadget, part of the fun is tossing darts at a calendar doing massive amounts of scientific research to prepare for the new hotness. Manufacturers choose to string us along with vague statements and rumor denials. Those teasing jerks! Gamers are especially anxious to find out when the successor to their favorite console is coming, they need to get a couple extra jobs and formulate a camp out. Rock on you crazy die hards!
Speculation has been hitting the interwebs heavy lately over the release of the Xbox 720 a.k.a. Durango. Everyone thought we’d see it at E3 2012 – it stayed home. Maybe Comic-Con? Negative. Still though, the whispers have been we’re getting Microsoft’s newest beast Holiday 2013. The cool thing is there may actually be a glimmer of truth to that one thanks to a recent job posting by the Redmond company.
A call out for marketing people acknowledges that new versions of popular Microsoft products will be released in the next 18 months, including the Xbox. 18 months? That’s end of Winter, beginning of Spring 2014. Makes plenty of sense to believe we could have a shiny, new Xbox under the Christmas tree next year. Or it could be a mean trick perpetrated by an over work office worker at MS. Kind of a fifty-fifty shot right now.
What say you geeks? Make sense or more smoke and mirrors? Hit the comments after the break!
