Kickstarter funding for projects are usually reserved for things that are in the pre-existing stage but what about using Kickstarter for bettering a project that has already been created? American McGee‘s Spicy Horse are looking to do just that with their game Akaneiro: Demon Hunters. Akaneiro has been in a closed beta, that is about to go public, since November. Spicy Horse is hoping by further funding the free to play game that they can maintain a higher level of quality as well as additional content and maps. Akaneiro:Demon Hunter is a re-telling of the Little Red Riding Hood story mixed with Japanese folklore that takes place in feudal Japan. Akaneiro follows in familiar McGee territory of the dark fantasy and is a free-to-play action role playing game. In development since 2011 Akaneiro will be available on Windows or Mac through a dedicated PC client as well as a browser based version. Also in the works is a version for iOS and Android based tablets. Akaneiro:Demon Hunter’s open beta is scheduled to begin sometime in January of 2013.
