Beauty dolls unite! I have compiled five nerdy cosmetic companies for your delight. Be prepared to break the bank because these businesses are dope. Do you ever feel like your beauty game is missing some of that signature geekiness you love? Then, my lovelies, you’ve come to the right article. As geek culture merges with the mainstream, it has overlapped beautifully into the beauty industry. From Marvel makeup to Harry Potter wand brushes, the possibilities are nearly limitless. Here are five nerdy cosmetic companies all of which are cruelty free and most are vegan. Treat yourself.
This small company in Portland, OR boasts an extensively wide range of products from their own making and that of other indie artists around the world. With names like #JustLegolasThings, The Seven Kingdoms Collection, and The Fullmetal Collection, there’s really something here for everyone. None of their products break the bank and you can buy sample sizes for $1-$2 depending on the product.
Darling Girl is an indie company taking inspiration from Once Upon a Time and the horror genre. I recently ordered from this site and couldn’t be more excited to try their products. With names like Slenderman, Chupakabra, and Hot as Baelfire, it’s really a great place to get your horrific fairy tale glow on. In love with the 80’s-90’s styles? This site got you boo. Their tagline Life is short; Wear more glitter, couldn’t sum them up better.
I’ve ordered from this site before and let me tell you it’s is the bomb! I love their loose powders. They’re highly pigmented with surprisingly little fallout. This cruelty free company prides themselves on creating unique makeup for those who are a little morbid at heart and for those who aren’t. Based highly on pop culture, they have a Supernatural collection called The Winchester Gospels. I have a couple of these and my favorite is Carry on My Wayward Son (a white loose eye shadow base with blue and purple glitter). They have plenty of witch colors and goth inspired looks. One of them is called Bloody Awful Poet (literally the most matte black I’ve ever found) based on Edgar Allen Poe. The whole company is amazing and I highly recommend them.
Holy mother of nerdom. If you were looking for geek makeup, you found the holy grail. They specialize in nail wraps, but also have eye shadow pallets, with names like RPG Collections and Browncoats Collection. Dungeons and Dragons AND Firefly? Sign me up! While this sight is a bit more expensive than the others listed in this article, they are very much worth it. And their nail wraps are no joke. Not only do they have DnD inspired sets, but you can travel back to your childhood favorites with like Comic Books Wraps, Swan Princess, Wonder Woman, Alice in Wonderland, and newer games such as Halo, Assassins Creed, and BioShock. Not too into video games, but still want some nerdy wonder? No worries there, they have plenty of designs suited for everyone.
Last, but most certainly not least, is Geek Chic Cosmetics. This is a recent treasure I’ve found and I’m ordering from them as soon as possible. A Doctor Who themed eye shadow set? Uh, yes please. I NEED it. Taking inspiration from anime, television, video games, books, and movies, this cosmetic company isn’t one to overlook. And this is another company that offers samples for cheap (only $1.25) to see if you like their product or if the color is right for you. It’s a great idea especially for themed costumes or outfits you don’t plan on wearing too often, but you want makeup to match the theme. Some of their collections include Timey Wimey, Superneutrals, Please Stand By, and Witchcraft and Wizardry. With so many options, there’s easily something for everyone.
This is just a taste of what each cosmetic company offers. Check them all out for yourself. Beauty lovers and cosmetic countesses, you won’t be disappointed. Which ones did you love most? Let us know in the comments below!
