Umbrella Corps takes place two years after the events of Resident Evil 6. The disbanded corporation fights mercenaries from other companies that are trying to extract vital research for their own use in bio-terrorism. The game’s primary focus is competitive online multiplayer, but there is a single player mode called The Experiment in which players will single-handedly take on hordes of the undead.
During online matches players will have what is known as a Zombie Jammer that makes them go unnoticed by the infected zombies until a zombie is shot, even by accident. Players can equip a gadget called a Jammer Buster to disrupt opposing players’ jammer, making them vulnerable to zombie attacks.
The maps featured within Umbrella Corps will seem very familiar to fans of the Resident Evil (RE) franchise. Raccoon City, The Police Station, the village from RE4, and Kijuju from RE5 are among the playable maps. Each map comes custom equipped with monsters and zombies that fit in the area based on the previous games.
Umbrella Corps is slated for a June 21, 2016 release and will be available on Playstation 4 and Windows PC, retailing at $29.99 or $39.99 for the Deluxe Edition which includes an upgrade pack that adds armor and weapons for your Corps member.
