A few days ago, we posted an article about a new Wal-Mart policy where Wal-Mart was going to price match items on Amazon. On Wednesday, we saw people taking advantage of Wal-Mart’s new policy and scamming them for $90 PS4s. Because of this nationwide policy, Wal-Mart has been ripped off once again by customers who created fake accounts to sell PS4s listing them for under $100 a pop therefore receiving the consoles at a price way lower than what it will be sold for Black Friday. So what are they going to do now that customers are abusing this policy?
A Wal-Mart rep commented on the problem and how they will rectify it.
“We launched online price matching because it’s the right thing for our customers… It’s making a meaningful difference for people who want to feel confident they’re getting the best price, and we’re committed to matching online prices going forward… At the same time, we can’t tolerate fraud or attempts to trick our cashiers. This kind of activity is unfair to the millions of customers who count on us every day for honest value… With this in mind, we’ve updated our policy to clarify that we will match prices from Walmart.com and 30 major online retailers, but we won’t honor prices from marketplace vendors, third-party sellers, auction sites, or sites requiring memberships.”
I’m sure Wal-Mart could have afforded to lose a few, but if this got too far out of hand, it really would’ve done some damage to the big company. What do you think geeks? Do you think that Wal-Mart should pursue those that scammed them? Let us know in the comments below!
