Amazon kicking BBC titles like ‘Doctor Who’ to the curb over exclusivity spat.

While everyone was rejoicing over Netflix keeping many popular BBC series like the white-hot Doctor Who, Amazon was not. The mega company has decided that its Prime Instant Video Streaming service should be the home of stuff not found on the reigning streaming champ Netflix. To that end they’re dumping all BBC titles from their service that the ‘Flix has in their library.

Amazon is pretty serious about Prime Instant, they’ve locked up shows like 24, Hannibal and one of my faves, Justified. They signed up these titles while keeping them out of the hands of rivals like Netflix and Hulu.

While I appreciate that Amazon wants to snap up shows, I don’t want to have to subscribe to several different services to get my stream on. I barely use my Prime Instant as it is, Netflix gets my time. The only eyeball time it gets is when I’m trying to catch up on Justified. If I want to watch 24, I’ll just pull out my DVDs. They might get me though as they’re the only streaming service to have BBC’s Orphan Black and I’ve been curious about watching that one.

What do you think geeks? Does the dumping of Doctor Who and other BBC shows from Amazon Prime Instant bother you? Sound off in them comments!
