Andrew Lincoln teases a change in tone in the second half of season 7
All Out War is coming to The Walking Dead. On the heels of the show’s worst rated mid-season finale since 2012, actor Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) promises a change in tone when the show starts back up on February 12th, 2017 on AMC.
Andrew Lincoln on the return of The Walking Dead:
“There’s a lot more levity, if you can believe that, than you’ve ever seen before in Mr. Grimes,” he said. “There’s sort of a freedom in him, a feeling that comes from losing everything, and also the thrill of the fight. It’s the thrill of the fight again. He’s back in. All I’m saying is that the band is back together.”
“It’s probably the opposite of what you just witnessed,” Lincoln went on to say. “Certainly from Rick’s point of view. You see a man in action again with some of the members of his closest family.”
Lincoln also promises that “the thrill of the fight is back” for the group in the second half of season 7. He also promised one episode in particular, episode 16, is something he’s very excited for fans to see.
“Wait till 16. I promise you, there is one beat in 16, I dropped my script and started punching the air and did a little jig,” he said.
All Out War is one of, if not my absolute favorite story line in The Walking Dead comics. Robert Kirkman and TWD show runner Scott Gimple have proven time and time again that they’re willing to change things from the comics, but I really hope they stay true to the story with this one.
