Back in September, Apple released their newest phone, iPhone 7, and made the boldest move any carrier has made to date. They decided to get rid of the headphone jack. Now, that doesn’t mean that you can’t listen to music or have a headset. It just means that you have to drop $159 for the bluetooth enabled AirPods. But wait! You can go the cheaper route and buy the lightning to 3.5mm adapter for $9 and have your choice of headphones. Such an unnecessary inconvenience.
In addition to messing with the iPhone hardware, Apple is at it again with their new Macbook Pro. Running anywhere from $1300-$4300, the new MacBook Pro has given its hardware a revamp by discarding of some of its ‘excess’ ports. This includes the HDMI port and all USB-A ports. They’ve now been exchanged for Thunderbolt and USB-C ports respectively. So, now Apple has completely eradicated three of the most universal technologies and for what? So they are able to sell more of their own products.
There is an available adapter for each situation so that you can connect your MacBook Pro to anything. You can spend an extra $19 to convert your USB to USB-C to be able to connect your iPhone 7. Rather than spending only $19 you can go crazy and just buy this $69 adapter to be able to convert USB to USB-C, HDMI, and Thunderbolt. It allows you to do it all! Just continue throwing money at Apple.
Apple is a great company, don’t misunderstand my judgment for anything but criticism. However, Apple is continuing to make their products increasingly difficult to fit in with the rest of the world’s technology. They are attempting to create a monopoly for those consumers who are avid Apple fans. One has to admire their efforts and logic. Due to the numerous adapters, it definitely is a sure way to keep money coming into the company. Dig deep into your couch cushions, Apple friends. You’re going to need all the spare change if this keeps up!
