Anticipation for Wonder Woman continues to build until its June release as we finally get to see the Amazon finally have her own big screen adventure. We know that the God of War, Ares will be the villain for the film, but until now, we didn’t know who would play the antagonist, but seems we got our answer now.
Its being reported from sources that have seen an exclusive test screening that Harry Potter actor David Thewlis will be playing the Greek legend. He’s said to be a mixture of practical and CGI effects, that CGI part is maybe why he hasn’t been heavily featured in some of the marketing for the movie thus far as its still being worked on and needs to go though a couple more renders. Thewlis has been cast in the film, but even right now his role remains under wraps so it is possible that the cat has been let out of the bag.
There is said to be one more trailer coming out, but we don’t have to wait too long actually to see how the movie baddie will look.
This year’s New York Toy Fair of course had plenty of offerings from what’s coming from DC Comics, including the line of action figures from Wonder Woman where each different figure will come with a different part of Ares and if you collect all the figures together, you and build an Ares action figure as shown below!
That certainly is an intimidating figure as he usually is in the comics and not looking too far off from most appearances of the character.
What do you think of Thewlis as Ares and how do you like the look of the character? Let us know in the comments below!
Wonder Woman comes out on June 2.
