If we were to draw a Venn Diagram, the overlap of Final Fantasy fans and Ariana Grande fans would probably be nigh nonexistent. That hasn’t stopped Square from putting the diva in the mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. The mobile game is celebrating one year of success in Japan and its rapid growth here in the states. When we announced Grande would be in the game, we had no idea she’d also be lending her music as well.
Who knew Ariana Grande was such a huge fan of Japanese culture and Final Fantasy? In the video below Kei Hirono, the producer of the mobile hit, fills us in on the details.
Ariana Grande is not the first pop star Square Enix has tapped for their games. Many may remember Utada Hikaru lending her vocal talents to the superb “Simple and Clean” for the Kingdom Hearts series, or Koda Kumi singing for Yuna in Final Fantasy X-2. So adding Grande to FF Brave Exvius isn’t too much of a stretch.
The “Touch It” remix will be done by SYN Productions and produced by Nick Wood. Wood hired a 52-piece orchestra in order to make the song “dynamic” and “epic”. Listening to the bits of the Ariana Grande’s remix in the video above, it certainly seems like Wood is in fact nailing the scope of songs found in Final Fantasy.
No solid date has been set for when we will be able to play as Ariana Grande donning her bunny suit, but Square Enix has promised more information will be coming “…in the middle of January”. That’s not too far off. In the mean time, you can download the admittedly fun game and start leveling up now. FF Brave Exvius is on both iOS and Android and it’s full of ‘member berries.
Are any of you geeks playing Final Fantasy Brave Exvius? How do you feel about mainstream pop infiltrating our culture? I take it as a positive sign that the “era of geek” is upon us.
