Arrow Himself Confirms Character’s Fate (SPOILER)

written by Jordan Cobb May 9, 2016

The shock and aww of Black Canary’s death on Arrow is still being felt not just by the characters, but fans across the world. They hold out to hope that the character will be resurrected. Stephen Amell has got some bad news for you.

On a recent interview with Larry King for Larry King Now, Amell confirmed that series star Katie Cassidy would not be returning as Laurel Lance/Black Canary and that the character is really dead. No Lazarus Pits, resurrection spells, she isn’t returning to the show. He also shared that he’s aware of Laurel’s last words to him, but isn’t saying anything else about that.

Amell in the interview stated:

King: Laurel was killed off this year. Viewers couldn’t hear her dying words. Do you know what they were?
Amell: I do know what they were, but it’s going to remain a secret because much like Greg [Berlanti] says, ‘We like to surprise the viewers.’
King: Any chance she’ll come back from the dead?
Amell: No.
King: Simply no?
Amell: Simply no.

For those not in the know, the current fourth season of Arrow kept teasing that someone close was dead and buried from the end of its premiere and then it was recently revealed to be Laurel. The shock came organically and worked to deliver a genuine twist.

That character maybe dead and buried on Arrow, but Cassidy isn’t quite done yet with Laurel Lance as she will appear as Black Canary’s Earth-2 counterpart, Black Siren on The Flash very soon and in season 2 of the CW Seed digital animated series, Vixen, which is set in the Arrowverse.

The full episode of Larry King Now featuring Stephen Amell comes online on May 27.
