Assassin’s Creed Figure Collection Revealed – Some Things Shouldn’t Be Permitted

It is no secret that we’ve got some heavy Assassin’s Creed fans over here at DHTG so when there was a new line of figures announced for the famous franchise, the excitement was palpable. Just as quickly as that joyous feeling reared its head, it just as soon dropped off into a meager “oh…”. You be the judge, because these figures are happening.

Assassin's Creed

Ubisoft announced their Assassin’s Creed Collection earlier and revealed that it will be a monthly model collection. The subscriber pays £2.99 for the first model and the collection builds from there. Except there is one glaring problem – the figures are, well – horrendous. The phrase “you get what you pay for” comes to mind when the full set was revealed.

If you close one eye and squint with the other and look at them from an angle, they look alright. They nailed the poses, the colours, and the over-all Assassin feel. Below are the second wave:

I was really happy to see Shay Cormac. Because Assassin’s Creed Rogue only came out on last gen (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) while its current gen counterpart, Unity, took the spotlight. Where as Unity seemed to let down fans everywhere, Rogue had a phenomenal storyline, naval combat, different locations, with some pretty amazing twists. The events also tie into Unity flawlessly.

The Ubi Workshop has some amazing figures, I have purchased some of their busts in the past as well as their statuettes and have yet to be disappointed. Perhaps that is where such a drastic drop in excitement came from when we look at these figures up close and personal:

It’s hard not to be a little saddened by something that could have had a lot of potential for Assassin’s fans. Though for £2.99, there isn’t much to lose for die-hard fans of the franchise. As a collectibles reviewer, it made my teeth grind but we’ll see how Ubi handles the feedback for this subscription service.
