These days, most shows don’t know if they will continue for the next season or not. But in the case of Attack on Titan, fans found out as soon as the season finale ended. Attack on Titan season 3 is coming back in 2018.
The second season of the popular anime was surprisingly short this time around, with only 12 episodes instead of the 24 from the first season. Season 2 aired on April 1st in Japan, with Funimation and Crunchyroll simulcasting on their respective websites. Shortly after, Toonami began airing the dubbed version of the anime on its Saturday lineup. While the anime has ended in Japan, the dub continues to air on Toonami at this time.
The series follows Eren Yeager and his friends as they survive an attack on the wall that protects their city. They vow to fight back and kill every last Titan to avenge those lost in the initial attack. Eren, adopted sister Mikasa and childhood friend Armin join the fight to defeat the Titans once and for all. Both the manga and anime are extremely popular both in and outside of Japan. There is even a spin-off series called Attack on Titan: Junior High, a parody of the original. A live-action movie also released, but did not go over well with fans. It appears that the popularity shows no signs of slowing down. As I mentioned earlier, most shows wait a few months to know whether they will be back or not. However, Attack on Titan is not most shows. And we a grateful for that.
Sounds off, geeks! What do you think about the announcement of a new season? Let us know in the comments.
