Battlefleet Gothic was first released in 1999 as a tabletop miniatures game, adding another layer to the already massive Warhammer 40,000 hobby. Now it’s being reincarnated as a video game, and it looks amazing! I’m sure there are some graphics snob that will look at the video and scoff, but trust me, once the franchise pulls you in you’ll be obsessed. Just like the rest of us.
The PC version, called Battlefleet Gothic Armada, lets you choose ships from the Imperium, Chaos, Eldar or Ork factions, and even lets you play against 3 opponents at once. If you wish to hold true to the ‘strategy’ in RTS, you can carefully maneuver the gigantic space-faring vessels to maximize the damage done while taking the least damage yourself, or you can charge in like a maniac and blow up anything that moves!
There’s also a turn-based strategy game available called Battlefleet Gothic Leviathan available for mobile devices. This one seems to focus on Tyrannids vs Blood Angels Space Marines. That way you can carry your new obsession with you everywhere you go.
If you are a current Warhammer 40,000 fan, tabletop Battlefleet Gothic admiral, or have played other ship-to-ship games such as Star Wars: X-Wing, you may want to snap these games up as soon as they come out.
