Disney has already generated a ton of hype with the release of the first trailer for their upcoming film ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ The international trailer was just released and it looks to build on your childhood nostalgia even more. Check it out below:

The trailer is obviously subtitled, but we get a few new shots from the film throughout. The official synopsis for ‘Beauty and the Beast’ has been released as this:

Based on the blockbuster 1991 animated classic, the film follows Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who’s taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

We’ve been seeing more and more attempts at making live-action movies out of childhood classics, but this is the first out of the bunch that I’m genuinely excited for. I’m not familiar with all of the cast, but the decision to have Emma Watson as Belle appears to be spot on. This is definitely going to be a film you can not only take the whole family to, but everyone will find something to enjoy when viewing it.

I also think it’s worth noting how perfect the musical score sounds in comparison to the animated film. Alan Menken has written the score based off of the original songs written by Menken himself and Howard Ashman. There are also some completely new songs written again by Menken and Tim Rice.

‘Beauty and the Beast’ is slated to release on March 17th, 2017.

Are you excited to see the film? How about other live action movies based on animated films from our respective childhoods? I’m also pretty psyched to see what’s going to become of the ‘Lion King’ by Jon Favreau. Join in on the conversation in the comments below!
