‘Blade 4’ Coming? Wesley Snipes Opens Up in New Interview!

Blade is one of those franchises that I just never get tired of. Yes, even that cluster that was Blade III. Wesley Snipes, who starred in that trilogy, recently sat down for an interview with THR. He discussed Black Panther and the possibility of his return to our (at least my) favorite vampire killer.

“I am very much open to all of the possibilities,” Snipes says. “If ‘Blade 4′ comes along, that is a conversation we can have. And there are other characters in the Marvel universe that, if they want to invite me to play around with, I am with that too. I think the fans have a hunger for me to revision the Blade character, so that could limit where they could place me as another character in that universe.”

Now before we all get excited (I can’t be the only one), we do need to realize that no one has actually approached Snipes to revisit the Blade franchise. He is definitely open to the idea though. Some time ago, Marvel and Spike put out a television series that wasn’t that bad. It seemed to me that they were trying to find another Snipes though. I, for one, would be stoked to see Snipes return as the daywalker. I would like to see him in just about any role in the MCU, though that might not be too possible though. Only due to the fact that Snipes is Blade, almost like Christopher Reeve is Superman. Not quite that level, but you know what I mean.

The interview focused on how Snipes wanted to do a Black Panther film back in the mid-90’s. He was actually trying to get the film off the ground even before Blade. It seems there were a few script re-writes, multiple directors, and the CGI just wasn’t quite up to the task of creating Wakanda. You can read the full interview here.

What do you think would be better? Do you think Blade would be better served as a full reboot with a new actor and origin story, and then have Snipes fill another role in the MCU? Remember he is every bit of a martial artist with training in various disciplines. He could fit in very well as a Wakandan warrior. Or, would you like to see Snipes reprise his role as the daywalker in a Blade sequel? Let us know what you think in the comments!
