Yesterday via Twitter, Disney announced a new Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales movie poster with the promise of a new trailer dropping today. The new poster is dark and gorgeous, featuring well loved characters known from the previous films as well as characters new to the franchise.
Earlier this morning, Disney held good to that promise and dropped a brand-new trailer for the film, and it does not disappoint. It starts by explaining more about Salazar, the antagonist, from his point of view and gives a glimpse of what happened with Captain Jack Sparrow to create such animosity and hate. Salazar will be played by Javiar Bardem, who cuts a rather menacing undead figure. It is the third trailer released for the film, and by far the best yet. Dark yet humorous and intriguing, the trailer does its intended job by tantalizing and making us want to see more.
Johnny Depp returns as the swash-buckling not-quite-good-guy Captain Jack Sparrow. This will be his fifth time playing the iconic character, and Depp is as hilarious as ever, if a tad bit less clothed. Once more Captain Sparrow finds himself in an ill luck position, this time being chased by ghostly seamen hell-bent on finding him.
Most importantly, the new trailer confirms that Orlando Bloom will be returning as the beloved Will Turner, and it shows so in a spectacular way. Watch the trailer here:
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales also stars Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa, Golshifteh Farahani as Shansa the sea-witch, and Stephen Graham as Scrum, among others. It is set to release in theaters this summer.
