Saints Row and Metro find homes alongside Dead Island!

In quite a surprising move, Koch Media\Deep Silver has acquired the rights to the gangsterific Saints Row franchise and the horror filled Metro series from a closed auction of THQ’s assets. Not only has the company gobbled up two massive, fan fueled games but they also picked up the development company behind the Saints Row series, Volition!

According to Deep Silver, they’re going to handle the future development, marketing and well, everything of the two super series. Nothing has been said as to what Volition will be up to, like say Saints Row the Fourth but we can only hope with the backing of Koch, they can make that game bigger and better! Hit the break to check out the full press release.

Geeky Gadget Review and Giveaway: Felix Two Hands and Monkey Do stands.

twohands

With the explosion in popularity of the tablet market, tablet stands are starting to swarm the shelves. Makes sense really, I mean who wants to hold one of those puppies through a whole movie or to skim through email? I recently sat down with a couple new stand from accessory designer Felix – the Two Hands and the Monkey Do.

Both products are meant to accomplish the same thing but do it different ways. The Monkey Do is a fairly monkey shaped stand with two out stretched arms to hold your device. It has bent “legs” and feet so the tablet nests comfortably at a slight viewing angle. The Two Hands is a simpler design, it looks like an elongated chip bag clip with hands. Squeeze the end to open up the hands and let them close back down on your device.

Steambox. CES. That happened for real.

More than maybe any console successor, the rumored Steambox by Valve has been high on the “Must Prove” list. A box built to run Steam games on the big, bad HDTV plenty of us play our Halo on. A non-console console meant to put Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo on point, to reinvigorate the game sector. A box meant to bring in the non-PC playing fans that either don’t have the gumption to upgrade or just don’t know where to start. A prototype that dropped at CES!

Codenamed “Piston”, the unit fits right in your hand and is being co-developed by Valve and PC maker Xi3. Under the hood is expected to live up to a terabyte of RAM and completely modular, upgradeable components. The display Piston at CES is reported to house an “IO board boasting one ethernet port, 1/8″ audio in/out, SPDIF optical audio, four USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports (with one dedicated to keyboard input), four eSATA ports, two Mini Display Port ports and one DisplayPort/HDMI port.” Not much is known about pricing or release date, although the company does make a mini form factor PC like the Piston that runs about $999. That’s a bit pricey though, especially compared to home consoles.

About time, huh geeks?
