XBLA House Party kicks off next month!
Last Updated on Wednesday, 11 January 2012 08:23 Written by LoganDX Wednesday, 11 January 2012 09:00
Microsoft really loves their yearly themed XBLA events. They usually bring some kind of special promotion and some stellar bite sized game. My personal favorite from past events is still Shadow Complex. Starting February 15th, the day after the loneliest day for…ahem… some gamers, MS is kicking off another one, again titled the Xbox LIVE Arcade Party. Delivering four weeks of digital goodness, Xbox owners will be able to grab a new game a week. The four games set for our pleasure include the next installment of the Alan Wake franchise, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare – my pick so far for downloadable game of the year and Ubisoft’s post-apocalyptic adventure game, I Am Alive.
Beyond those two higher profile games, the House Party is getting a couple of “under the radar” type of games. THQ is bringing Nexuiz, a futuristic first person shooter that looks like a hybrid between Unreal Tournament and Monday Night Combat. EA is sending up Warp, a stealth based puzzler in which players must help the imprisoned alien Zero escape the clutches of the evil Commander. But hey, MS isn’t done! Hit the break for more…

1 is a Lonely Number for Microsoft vs Motorola
Last Updated on Wednesday, 21 December 2011 05:45 Written by StrifeJester Wednesday, 21 December 2011 05:45
The ITC in their initial determination has said that Motorola did not infringe on six out of the seven patents Microsoft sued them over. I know it is hard to keep track of all the patent lawsuits swirling around these days, not just against Android but in general. When more and more companies seem to be using the litigate don’t innovate model keeping track is a pain. Keep in mind also this case was originally nine patents. Motorola is seeing this as a pretty big announcement because they also have suits open against Microsoft. With eight of the original nine off the table it seems that Microsoft may actually be paying Motorola instead of the wave of manufacturers that have settled and agreed to pay royalties to Microsoft for manufacturing Android phones. Read the full press release after the break. Read more: 1 is a Lonely Number for Microsoft vs Motorola

New Xbox dash, new Xbox Live Companion App. [VIDEO]
Last Updated on Thursday, 8 December 2011 05:02 Written by LoganDX Thursday, 8 December 2011 11:00
Something most of us paid little attention to with the recent Xbox Dashboard update is the Xbox Live Companion App. Native to Windows Phone 7, the app gives gamers the ability to mingle with their profile, play with their avatar, check messages, etc. The dash upgrade was a great time for Microsoft to revamp the Companion App and turn it into an extension of the Xbox 360. Using the new app, fans can search movies and play them on the console, flip through friends, become a remote or even list info as to what is going on right on the Xbox – a second screen of love! If you happen to rock a WP7, the app is free!
What turned out to be a surprise was the rollout of an iOS version of the Companion App. Not as fully featured as the new hotness, this meager bit of software can still track achievements, go through messages, tweak the avatar and stalk friends. Most accounts put it much like the first iteration of the WP7 app. Fine, all fine but what about Android MS? Surely plenty more Xbox fanatics have a Google powered cell in the possession than Apple, right? Hit the break to check out the new App running.
