PS4 Details Will Possibly Emerge This Month

Rumors are abound that Sony is set to reveal more details about the much-anticipated PS4. It was widely believed that they would use E3 to finalize details or at least give us more info but now speculation is that Sony will make an announcement as early as this month. Sony likely wants to keep the hype train rolling in their favor after the not so surprising PS4 announcement this past February.

My own personal opinion is that Sony wants to have all details available and perhaps even start taking pre-orders before Microsoft announces their next console. In January Microsoft posted a countdown to E3 on its blog which most people assumed was to be taken as a countdown to the NextBox. However there’s still a chance Microsoft will also preempt E3 with their own standalone announcement. Both consoles could possibly release by the end of 2013.

Eventually I will own both consoles but my first choice and the console I will pre-order in hopes of getting my hands on at launch will be the PS4. I think a lot of gamers have similarly made up their minds regardless of announcements. So geeks, what’s your thoughts on the impending next console generation? We’d love to hear your thoughts on what will undoubtedly be a competition that in the end can only end in a win for us gamers. Read more: PS4 Details Will Possibly Emerge This Month

Is This The Future Of The DualShock Controller?

As we near closer to February 20, when Sony is set to unveil something big and almost certain to be the next generation Playstation console, a supposed picture of the new controller has arrived. Of course, nothing is confirmed but the above picture could possibly reveal more about the PS4 than Sony would like us to be privy to.

Look between the direction pad and the familiar buttons, more than likely that is a touchscreen which has been rumored to make an appearance in the redesigned DualShock controller. The glowing blue light thing at the front looks eerily similar to the glow of the move controller. So, I have to wonder if motion control won’t be incorporated directly into the controller thus eliminating the need for a separate Move controller.

However it’s the conglomerate of tiny holes under the touchpad that intrigues me the most. A few things come to mind but I’m thinking a microphone that would allow for voice control would be pretty freakin’ sweet. Or it could be a speaker similar tothat of  the Nintendo Wiimote.

If this does turn out to be legit, I’m glad Sony didn’t stray too far from the initial design of the DualShock I’ve become so comfortable with. I’m ok with this should it turn into reality. February 20th can’t get here soon enough for this Sony loving Geek! Read more: Is This The Future Of The DualShock Controller?

Oh Sony You Are Such A Tease! [VIDEO]

There’s been much talk lately about the next generation of gaming consoles and its obvious it’s arrival is imminent. On Thursday Sony released a 44 second trailer offering you a glimpse to “see the future”. What exact future we’re seeing is unclear but the buzz is it will be an announcement of the PS4. The Cryptic teaser trailer features all the familiar Playstation controller button symbols, triangle, circle, square and the X amongst lights that look to be electricity surging around the controller buttons. I’m not positive but I swear the electricity briefly moves in the formation of a 4.

Another red flag that this is pertaining to PS4, Orbis or whatever its title will be is the fact Sony wants you to ” Be the first to know” by signing up with an email address so you can be alerted when they make the grand announcement. That announcement will be on February 20 at 6:00 PM EST. This event will be live streamed and when we here at “The Geek” know more details of where and how you can watch the live stream, we will let you know.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that people close to the situation have confirmed that it is indeed the next generation of Playstation that will be unveiled at this media event. WSJ is also stating that the console will be available for purchase before the end of 2013 and in time for the holidays. Read more: Oh Sony You Are Such A Tease! [VIDEO]

Where the rumors originate [VIDEO]

Ever wonder how and where all these tech and geek blogs get all the latest and greatest info? For instance one of the newest and greatest rumors is that Apple is testing the iPhone 6. Now how do people know that, did someone from Apple whisper some secret into some bodies ear? No hardly, how it goes down in this instance is some app developers turned over their current info to a blog/website they know and are familiar with. Most stories come about that way one site stumbles upon something and it gets continually regurgitated from site to site at least as far as tech goes.

Let’s say you decide to go to Kickstarter and rather than leaning to your favorite blog for the latest and greatest you pick a project randomly to read. Well 9 times out of 10 you’re very likely to get something like this… Monthly Whites a service that guarantees you fresh, crisp, stain free undies all month long. On top of that they even have an emergency package because accidents happen you know. Let me share a quote from them with you, “It’s simple… Monthly Whites delivers the freshest, whitest and most comfortable underwear direct to your door. This idea came to me as a young professional working long hours.  With late nights at the office…I didn’t have time to do laundry. So, after working on weekends, I’d have Mondays with re-used undies.” Still don’t believe me well here is the link to their Kickstarter campaign and I’ll provide you with video proof.
