Fox’s upcoming Gambit spinoff film was dealt a major blow with star Channing Tatum rumored to fold and leave the table.
It’s reported that Tatum has exited the film, which is scheduled for an October 7, 2016 release in theaters and was going to roll cameras this upcoming October.
Tatum had reportedly been screen testing with actresses for the female lead of the film, one of which is Lea Seydoux of Blue is the Warmest Color and the upcoming James Bond film, Spectre, which included Tatum himself. The news comes after Rupert Wyatt would direct the film off a screenplay written by Josh Zetumer. In addition to playing the Cajun mutant, Tatum was also on board as a producer with Reid Carolin, Tatum’s creative partner on several of his projects, including writing the recently released Magic Mike XXL.
Right now it is unclear as to the state of the film or if Tatum is still producing the movie, but Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner are still attached to the project and is still planned for its initial release date.
