Disney has done a terrific job teasing their live-action adaptation to the classic animated film, “Beauty and the Beast.” We’ve gotten stills of Emma Watson as Belle, but we’ve yet to see her actually interacting with the Beast….until now. Disney surprised everyone and dropped a new trailer for “Beauty and the Beast” today and it looks amazing.
How great does this movie look?! I’m usually super skeptical about not only live-action adaptations of animated films I loved as a kid, but re-makes of classic films in general, but Disney has put all of my worries to rest with Beauty and the Beast. It looks like they’re not only taking it seriously, but sticking to the source material pretty closely. This trailer could easily be a fan-made short with scenes pulled straight from the cartoon.
I have zero doubt that Emma Watson is going to knock it out of the park as Belle. She’s a terrific actress who seems to be really embracing the role. I’m not super familiar with Dan Stevens, who is playing Beast, but with the bar already being set pretty high on the quality of the film, I’m guessing he’s going to be great as well.
“Beauty and the Beast” is slated to release on March 17, 2017. It stars Emma Watson as Belle, and Dan Stevens as the Beast. Disney’s official synopsis on the film is this:
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
Are you guys excited for the film? Disney is also doing a live-action adaptation of the Lion King. Are you excited for that as well? What are your concerns about the film? (If you actually have any!) Join in on the conversation in the comments below!
