OH MY GOD, I’m so excited. As a passionate fan of the Cloverfield series, I am so excited that the third film in the series, The Cloverfield Paradox, is coming out TODAY!
What Is “Cloverfield”?
10 years ago a movie mysteriously came out in theaters. Hitting in the height of the found footage era of film, Cloverfield emerged with little to no information, outside of an in-depth ARG. The film was filled with a cast of relative unknowns. It was a major success and left its audience wanting more. It seemed that there would be no more to the story after many years passed and no word of a sequel came. But suddenly in 2016 the websites for the ARG started seeing activity again. Then almost out of nowhere, a trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane dropped. This movie was completely different from the last, but shared the name. The film has almost no connection to the original outside of a small twist at the end which feels connected to the first one. Since then there has been a tease that there will be a third film that connects the two, this film was dubbed “God Particle”.
“The Cloverfield Paradox”
IMDB posted a release date for this year and speculation started. Bad Robot, the production company behind the other two films, teased this movie but rarely let any information slip. A few months ago those same ARG websites started seeing activity again and a release date in April. But now:
TONIGHT, this is happening tonight!
Renamed The Cloverfield Paradox, the movie looks to show what caused the other two movies’ monsters and has moved to Netflix. Originally going to be an in-theater release, Paramount made a last-minute deal to switch things up and debut it online. Now to me, the name change adding “Paradox” may mean it has to do with time travel. But that’s just me. All right, enough speculating, the movie will be on Netflix as soon as the Super Bowl is over!
