This is War
I love music. In fact, my neighbors do, too. We have this competition that we don’t actually speak about. They have loads of people play Dance Dance Revolution, stomping on my ceiling, and I have my friends come over to blast our favourite playlists at 1:00 AM on a school night. This is war. Thanks to CRDC Life, I got to review the latest addition to my audio arsenal. This is their portable wireless speaker, model CR-DCS203A.
Wirelessly connect to your smartphone, tablet from up to 33 feet away.
Seamlessly stream crystal clear, room filling sound with superior bass performance through 2 X 5W driver.
Built-in Mic for hands-free calling on the move
Detachable outdoor hanging belt offer you convenience to hang and attach it to anywhere you want.
Built-in high-capacity rechargeable lithium battery provides as long as 12 hours of wireless play.
This speaker connects via Bluetooth or 3.5mm audio jack. It supports audio streaming and phone calls, with a built-in mic. Pairing it via Bluetooth was seamless and easy, but I’ve mostly used it with a Chromecast Audio, perched over the counter in my kitchen. Working with my Google Home in the living room, it makes for a great multi-room audio system that is small and discreet.
This CRDC Life product feels great in the hand. The rugged rubber shell wraps around metal grilles on the front and back of the speaker. It’s IP65 water and dust resistant. If you saw my review of the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus, you know that I LOVE waterproof things!
Spongey soft-touch buttons line up across the top and control power, volume, and phone functions. A plastic loop on one side can be used to hang the speaker, but is the one part that doesn’t feel perfectly sturdy. Odd, because you should have confidence that the speaker won’t end up on the concrete if you hang it up outdoors. I was amused to find threading for a tripod on the bottom. Not sure when you’d ever need to use that.
Naturally, the most important factor when talking about a speaker is audio quality. The Bluetooth signal never cut out, and the connection via 3.5mm jack was solid, too. There was never any crackling or popping. The sound is strong, and not tinny by any means.
Even so, I found the low end of the CRDC Life speaker wanting. The bass is there, but it sounds a little muddy when you throw in other sounds. I didn’t expect deep subwoofer quality, but the product description did get my hopes up a little. You have to keep in mind that this is a small, rugged speaker that you can toss in a puddle. Hearing every 808 clearly is not a top priority.
The CRDC Life Verdict
I do recommend this CRDC Life portable speaker. It’s the perfect size, is built from good materials, and punches above its weight in audio quality. Pick up yours here!
