For me, Green Lantern Corps. is the movie I’m most looking forward to from the upcoming slate of DC adapted films. I mean yeah I’m excited about Aquaman and the Wonder Woman sequel, but after how poorly the Ryan Reynolds film went, I’m certainly curious about the further adventures of Hal Jordan and company on the big screen.
Co-writer and producer of the film David S. Goyer recently offered an update on the development of the film to IGN.
Goyer stated during the 2018 winter Television Critics Association press tour:
I don’t know. Who knows, especially with what’s currently going on with the DC universe? There’s obviously a whole recalibration happening with that right now.
This could be due to the recent shake-ups within the film department of DC after Justice League underwhelmed at the box office and the appointment of a new head of the division in the form of Walter Hamada. DC’s recent restructuring is proving to be quite hurtful to them right now so hopefully, they can crawl out of the hole they have dug themselves into.
With the Corps being a more central focus, we do have the potential of more than just Hal Jordan. I mean Abin Sur, Tomar-Re, Kilowog, and of course, Sinestro seem like a given, but we might finally see Kyle Rayner make his big screen debut or John Stewart as well! Maybe even an appearance from Alan Scott and/or Guy Gardner? Time will tell!
