On January 27-29, Penny Arcade will bring it’s now iconic expo PAX to the south, specifically to San Antonio, TX. PAX South, as it is fittingly called, will host an array of panels from YouTube personalities to top game developers and everything/one in between. This will be the third year—it started in 2015—PAX will host an expo in the good ‘ole south, and Don’t Hate the Geek is going to be there along with tens of thousands of fellow geeks!
As you can see above, the turn out will be massive as both fans and creators pack the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center to the brim. Indie games, board games, AAA developers and more will be stopping by to discuss or show off their latest creations. You can view the whole schedule (so far) here.
Opening the show is a man many of you should be familiar with. Christopher Perkins, principal story designer for Dungeons & Dragons at Wizards of the Coast will be delivering the keynote on Friday January 27th. Perkins first joined WotC as the editor for Dungeon magazine, soon he was promoted to editor-in-chief followed by ascension to senior producer and story manager for Dungeons & Dragons.
What to Expect at PAX
Once Perkins sets the tone for the week-end, the gates will open and PAX South will officially begin. Based on the provided schedule, it’s going to be a jam packed event. Here are some of the things to look forward to.
- Friday the 13th: The Game – The Art of the Kill! Hosted by Adam Sessler and the developers at Gun Media, this panel will be all about showing off Jason Vorhees and how he will dispatch the camp counselors in the game. The beta for this game has been making the rounds and has been garnering positive feedback. Check out the games official site here.
- Penny Arcade Q&A #1 on Friday, Jan. 27 at 11:30 am – Holkins and Krahulik will answer questions and deliver the most significant PAX announcement since the reveal of PAX South. What could this announcement be? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
- Playable Nintendo Switch!
- A lot of you man not know him, but Angry Joe has been doing reviews on games and movies for years. A YouTube personality with millions of subscribers and views, this is one guy I can’t wait to meet. His unique take on the review format, and his discussions on the latest films with his friends are always entertaining. He and his squad will be signing autographs and more Friday afternoon.
If you want to attend the event and hang out with your geek out, you can still register for the individual days here. Unfortunately the three day passes are all sold out.
Geeks, that’s just some of the stuff we can expect to see at PAX South. Check out the full schedule and let us know if there is anything you’d like us to cover, film, etc. in the comments. We’ll do our best to cover as much as we can, but the Expo is going to be enormous so if you want to see something let us know. Stick with Don’t Hate the Geek as we’ll be bringing you the latest from PAX South when it kicks off January 27th.
