April 2nd marked a monumental day for geeks everywhere as Peter Dinklage finally hosted SNL for the first time since his initial appearance on the show in April of 2013. With season 6 of Game of Thrones swiftly approaching, Dinklage began his monologue by clearing the air about his knowledge (or lack thereof) of a certain character whose fate was left in obscurity at the end of the fifth season, stating “For those of you who do watch Game of Thrones, let’s get this out of the way — I have no idea if Jon Snow is really dead, I even have the new scripts, but if I’m not in the scene, Petey no read-y.”
So, it seems even The Dink is not in ‘the know’ of whether or not a particular character will be returning for season 6; we’ll all just have to wait patiently (or not so patiently) for the April 24th premier. Until then, sans spoilers, here is a short list of my three favorite skits from his SNL hosting debut. May they sate you ‘til that fateful day with destiny.
Dinklage and Aidy Bryant play a “trendy” couple taking their friends to a “glory hole’ themed restaurant.
Leslie Jones and “Tyrion” bare all as themselves in a fake episode of Naked and Afraid: Celebrity Edition.
The weirdest and funniest sketch I’ve seen all week, featuring musical guest Gwen Stefani.
So there you have it friends, three solid comedic performances reaffirming once again all the reasons we love Peter Dinklage, even, especially, when he’s doing the robot and screaming “Space Pants!” *does robot but not nearly as good as Peter Dinklage*
Season Six is coming….
