Donald and Stephen Glover are Bringing an Animated Deadpool to FXX

written by Jordan Cobb May 10, 2017

Donald Glover sure does have plenty on his plate right now. The Golden Globe winner is currently off filming the Han Solo film, he’s gonna be in Spider-Man: Homecoming later this summer, playing Simba soon in the live-action The Lion King remake, and he is of course getting ready for the second season of his critically acclaimed FX series, Atlanta. So hey why not help Deadpool get on to TV while you’re at it?

If you haven’t had enough Deadpool, which I’m not sure is possible, then don’t worry because Glover and his brother Stephen, a fellow writer on Atlanta, will run, produce, and write a Deadpool animated series at FX, which has just been ordered for 10 episodes and will air on FXX.

The news is a surprise, yet Glover did sign an overall production deal earlier this year with FX that would let him produce more projects, but its still a bit of a surprise to hear that the first project out of the deal is a Deadpool TV show.

We all know that Deadpool is already an animated character in his own right regardless of whatever medium he’s appearing in, but an actual animated series on FX. Oh just imagine the depravity right now. The show will join Legion as the second Marvel TV series on the network and will of course be produced with head of Marvel’s TV, Jeph Loeb who said about the series, “How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth. We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”

Deadpool is expected to debut sometime in 2018, same time as season two of Atlanta. Looks like Donald is only just getting started right now.

What do you think of the news? Who would you want to voice Deadpool on the show? What characters do you hope pop up? Let us know in the comments below!
