Fan films and shorts are pretty cool. Geek/nerd dedication to many properties have led to plenty of content creators expressing their love in a very special way. They show what they would like to do if given the chance to play with their favorite characters.
Now that was pretty cool. A very stylized recreation and look into level one of the original 1981 game. It’s insane how he did all this by himself, the directing, acting, visual effects, music, man it’s just such dedication that often isn’t seen in some major studio adaptations. It really says something when someone who perfectly understands the property and can get it right. If there ever is to be a Donkey Kong movie, this short might end up being better.
What’s even more exciting is that this isn’t even the end for our dear plumber hero as the video teases the big battle between Mario and King Bowser. When that drops, we don’t know, but given the level of detail and love put into this, don’t be surprised if it takes a good while.
What’s even better is an accompanying video below that shows how it was all made and man is it even more impressive.
What I really do love is how Donkey Kong looks because if that doesn’t look pretty convincing, then this whole thing just falls apart. Thankfully, Donkey Kong just looks amazing. This is dedication to a property at its finest and it shows. Makes me wonder what other video games he could do this for.
