If you are still excited from the recent Wonder Woman movie and are ready for Wonder Woman 2, I’ve got good news for you!
Wonder Woman was nothing short of impressive at the box office. So far, it has grossed over $389 million and has done better than any superhero movie for the past 15 years.
The movie has been doing well despite controversy over Women Only Screenings that Alamo Drafthouse held opening weekend. So well, in fact, that it’s playing in theaters for much longer. “It feels like Wonder Woman will play all the way through August,” Warner Bros. Jeff Goldstein, says. He is the President of Domestic Distribution. “Right now, the movie is still in about 3,000 locations. Usually, the theater count would be a fraction of that at this point.”
Wonder Woman herself, Gal Godot took time to talk about the success of the film as well. She posted a video where she thanked the fans of the movie for making it such a success.
“I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for making this the most amazing and craziest weekend I’ve had in my life,” Gal says in the video, which was recorded after opening weekend “You made this movie what it is. Your love and support for this character and myself are not to be taken granted. Wonder Woman is the No. 1 movie in the whole world. This is all you. So a big thank you.”
With a success as big as that, it’s no surprise that a follow up movie is already in the works. Even better news regarding the sequel, not only will Gal Gadot return as Wonder Woman, but Warner Bros. has confirmed an official release date for Wonder Woman 2. It will hit theaters on December 13th, 2019. That day can’t get here fast enough!
Can’t wait that long to get your Wonder Woman fix? No worries! The Amazonian Warrior will appear in Justice League and Aquaman. Justice League will hit theaters on November 17th, 2017 and Aquaman is set to premiere on December 21, 2018. Plenty of Wonder Woman to look forward to for back to back holiday seasons!
