Egypt Confirmed? Looks Like it in This Alleged ‘Assassin’s Creed’ In-Game Screen Leak

written by Jason Marcano May 9, 2017

Today, a Reddit user named “shoutouttoashraf” (a name that has since been deleted) posted an image of what is allegedly the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. “Shoutouttoashraf” also claims that “AC4 leads are working on this, most of the AC4 team.” He also says that “Shit was spreading like a wildfire so who cares anymore.”

The image, an off screen and oddly angled one, seems to confirm that the next Assassin’s Creed will in fact take place in Egypt like rumors have suggested. Look for yourself below.

That certainly looks like an Assassin’s Creed game to me! The rumors mentioned above suggest that the next AC will be called Assassin’s Creed: Orgins and it will be a prequel to the series. Many other changes are said to have been implemented, and fans of Black Flag will no doubt welcome the return of naval combat.

There are some details, other than the overall look of the game that suggest it will take place in ancient Egypt. In the top left corner there are two mission objectives. One called “Assassinate the Crocodile,” and the second, more telling mission, “Follow Shadya to Khenut’s villa.” According to Wikipedia, Khenut was a queen of Egypt and lived from 2494 to 2345 BC.

Geeks, with E3 just around the corner, there’s no doubt Ubisoft will be announcing some new Assassin’s Creed game. It seems like all signs thus far point to it being set in Egypt. Keep in mind however that this is one image, and has yet to be confirmed—or deneied— by Ubisoft, so take from it what you will.

What do you think of this news? Are you looking forward to climbing pyramids and assassinating pharaohs? Were you hoping for a different locale? I know a popular request has been an Assassin’s Creed game set in Japan with samurai. Sound off in the comments, and stick with DHTG as we’ll update you on this and more as it develops.
