FOX has announced orders for six new shows that are coming to television for the 2016-2017 season. Included in the six is The Exorcist. Earlier this year it was announced that Academy Award winner, Geena Davis, was cast for the role of “Angela Rance”. The character is described as “naturally beautiful, regal and proud but weighed down by stress”.
The show will be an updated take inspired by the book written by William Blatty in the early 70’s. The Exorcist is a psychological thriller that surrounds a family devastated by a case of demon possession, and how two vastly different men try to tackle it.
Also announced is the Lethal Weapon TV series that will star Damon Wayans Sr. in the role of Detective Roger Murtaugh. The show will be a re-imagining of the movie franchise that starred Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.
Also part of the lineup are A.P.B. which “follows an eccentric tech billionaire who purchases a police precinct after a loved one is murdered”. Pitch tells the tale of a young woman who becomes the first female pitcher for the major leagues.
Also headed our way is Making History stars Leighton Meester, Adam Pally and Yassir Lester who play a group of time traveling pals, determined to improve their present lives. And finally, Mick, which is lead by Kaitlin Olson, a crass woman who moves to Connecticut and becomes caretaker to her upper-class sister’s spoiled children.
Which of these shows are you most excited about? I can’t wait to see what The Exorcist has to offer!
