About a month ago we heard from Bethesda that Sony had made it so mod support for Skyrim and Fallout 4 on the PS4 was something gamers could only dream about. The future seemed bleak for owners of Sony’s console as they looked on, green-eyed at Xbox One players enjoying things like Lightsabers and Buzz Lightyear Power Armor.
Bethesda has since posted an update on the situation regarding mods for Skyrim and Fallout 4 in which they state that “We and Sony have worked hard to make this possible.”
Bethesda’s post also says we can expect mods to hit Skyrim Special Edition first when it launches on October 28th. Skyrim will also render to 4K when played on the PlayStation 4 Pro. While the enhanced visuals are a nice perk, the main reason PS4 owners were looking to re-buy Skyrim was solely for the mod support.
As for the Fallout 4 mods, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to get our hands on those. Bethesda says mods will come to Fallout 4 when work on Skyrim has been completed. They also tell us to expect 4k support on the PS4 Pro for Fallout 4. Things like enhanced lighting and graphics features will be patched in as well.
The process for trying out mods for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PS4 work the same as they do on the Xbox One. You create and account at Bethesda.net and then you’ll be able to browse and sample mods directly from within the game.
Does this change the minds of any of you geeks about Sony’s new PlayStation 4 Pro? Will you be journeying back to Tamriel this October? Excited to see mods finally coming to Fallout 4? Let us know in the comments below where you stand on this.
