Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is right around the corner. November 18, 2016 is a date Potterheads have had marked in their calendars since the film was announced, but that hasn’t stopped the Potterverse news from continuing to roll in.

It was recently reported that Johnny Depp has accepted a role in the second film. While no one has confirmed who he’ll be playing, many speculate that he’s going to portray the infamous Grindelwald. Even the most casual fans will recognize that name from the Harry Potter series as the man who famously dueled Dumbledore. These theories look more and more plausible as Albus Dumbledore himself has been confirmed for the next Fantastic Beasts movie! David Yates, the director of FB and the sequel confirmed it via ScreenRant!

I couldn’t be more thrilled for this news. Dumbledore has always been a favorite character of mine, and I’m ecstatic to be seeing more of him. No actors have been confirmed for the role yet, but I’d honestly like to see Michael Gambon take on the part again with some Tron-esque CGI like they did with Jeff Bridges. While Gambon may not be able to handle 4 more movies, it’d still be really cool to see him show up in an Easter Egg/flash forward kind of cameo.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them releases on November 18, 2016. It stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander. The film is based off of a book within the Harry Potter Universe. It also stars Kathrine Waterson, Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, and Dan Fogler.

What do you guys think of the news? I’m never opposed to getting more Potterverse in my life. Are you excited to see the Fantastic Beasts series link up to Harry Potter in such a big way? Do you have any great ideas for who should be cast? Join in on the conversation and let me know in the comments below!
