Fans are hoping to expand the world of Disney with #GiveElsaAGirlfriend, a petition for the Frozen sequel to feature Elsa having a female love interest. Some of the tweets included with the hashtag have said things like “Love is an open door. That door should be open for everyone, not just straight people” and “Because LGBT kids deserve to know that nothing is wrong with them.”

There is an equal amount of backlash on social media discouraging the idea of bringing a lesbian relationship into a Disney movie. Tweets from the opposing end have included “That kind of stuff belongs nowhere near a children’s movie and would be incredibly manipulative on a child’s mind”.
If Disney were to pursue this idea it wouldn’t be the first time Disney featured same sex couples. ABC’s Once Upon a Time very recently featured an episode that included a kiss between two female characters. They also implemented a same-sex couple in their comedy show “Good Luck Charlie” on the Disney Channel.
Disney did announce last month that there will be a sequel to Frozen, however no release date has been set. Would you be in favor of a sequel featuring Elsa with a female love interest? Let us know in the poll below.
