The highest of praise to the geek queen, Felicia Day is officially joining The Magicians cast on Syfy.
It doesn’t get much better than this. Felicia Day (Buffy, Supernatural, Mystery Science Theater 3000, owner of Geek and Sundry) will be adventuring into Fillory on The Magicians as a dragon expert in a major roll. She embraces the roll of Poppy, a dragon expert whose knowledge assists Quentin and his friends on their quest. Oh, and did we mention she can talk to dragons?
The Magicians is television adaptation of a book series by the same name by Lev Grossman. The story follows Quentin Coldwater, a high school senior still enamored with a fantasy book series he grew up reading. Although his real life feels boring by comparison. When he’s accepted into Brakebills: a highly exclusive, ridiculously secluded college for magical and arcane arts, his life transforms. And if that wasn’t enough to throw his entire world into chaos, he also learns that the fantasy world of Fillory with which he’d obsessed with his entire life is actually real. The series is appositely described as C. S. Lewis beautifully meets J. K. Rowling for adults.
Felicia Day’s character Poppy will be joining the cast in season three to help bring magic back to the world. Sure, Quentin and friends have gathered their party, but what quest would be complete without an invaluable source of information? Such as someone who can talk to dragons, some of the oldest and most knowledgeable magical beings in this or any other world?
“I am thrilled to join The Magicians this season,” Felicia day said. “The show is one of my favorites, the cast is incredible to work with, and showrunner, Sera Gamble, is one of my Hollywood heroes. I can’t wait for fans to meet Poppy!”
This first official picture of Poppy may hint at just how much a key roll she could play this upcoming season. Fans of the book series will already know, but the rest of us will have to wait until early 2018. Mercifully, that isn’t too far away.
