Wizards at the ready because there’s magic in progress. Today, Twitter charmed us with the first full cast picture promo. We also have an official name for the sequel: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Can you believe this lineup?

Jude Law stands at the far left playing the magnificent, brilliantly kindhearted, Einstein of wizards Albus Dumbledore. There are some familiar faces – Credence (Ezra Miller), Tina (Katherine Waterston), Jacob (Dan Fogler), Queenie (Alison Sudol), and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). Clear the right is Johnny Depp, taking on the roll of dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald.
The promo also highlights some new characters to the wizarding world. Callum Turner plays Theseus Scamander, Newt’s brother. His fiance, Leta Lestrange (Zoë Kravitz), sits beside him. But what of the woman clinging to Credence? The unnamed character, played by Claudia Kim, is described only as “Maledictus”. According to Pottermore, Maledictus is a curse that turns the sufferer into a beast. Fan theories have already begun, proposing that she might be the Enchanting Snake Girl:
It’s noteworthy also that Maledictus, according to Pottermore, is a character who “suffers from a blood curse that turns [her] into a beast” – which we can probably quite safely assume is, in this instance, a snake.
That’s Not the Only Fantastic Beasts Fan Theory
Of course, in the world of Pottermore, one thing is certain. Fans will always formulate ideas about the world. This picture of two wands has heads spinning and plenty of fans thinking. Most are theorizing that because Grindelwald had the Elder Wand at this point in time, the wand on the right must be Dumbledore’s current wand.
