The cast of the Justice League movie has had their wrap party. The highly-anticipated film looks on track to meet its November 17, 2017 release date. Fans are sure to get more teasers and images in the coming months.
Today, we finally get to see the Queen of Atlantis herself. Mera (portrayed by Amber Heard) is the wife of Arthur Curry/Aquaman (portrayed by Jason Momoa). She helps rule Atlantis alongside her king, especially while he’s on duty with the Justice League. It remains unclear what Mera’s role in the Justice League movie will be. She may be the one character in the DC Universe that can match Aquaman’s ferocity in battle. Judging from what we’ve seen of Zack Snyder’s take on the DCU so far, I’m sure we’ll have ample opportunities to see just what Mera is capable of.
Snyder’s last movie, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was received with mixed reviews. Snyder has promised Justice League will show the lighter side of the DCU. There’s also still a good chance it will again have the dark, gritty tone that DC movies are known for. Snyder’s take on the heavy-hitters of the DCU has been questioned throughout his work within the DCU. Time will certainly tell what kind of movie Justice League will be, but I DO know that this trailer has me excited for it.
Heard is expected to have a supporting role in Justice League, but Mera should be more of a focal point in Aquman. Amber Heard will star along-side Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Gal Gadot, and Henry Cavill in the superhero team-up movie. Justice League is slated to release November 17, 2017 from Warner Bros.
